Short Description: Discussion List for 1394/FireWire (tm) Technologies List Name: 1394 Long Description: This list is devoted to 1394 technology also known as FireWire. The list is open to everyone - from end users to engineers. It is as technical or as basic as the subscribers wish to be. It is, however, about 1394 (and tightly related) technology. Our goal is to create a list where industry professionals and end users (and everyone in-between) can congregate to swap stories and/or technical details about their experiences with the wild and wonderful world of 1394. The list will entertain such topics as: 1394 Software - drivers and applications for DOS, Windows 9x, Windows NT, MacOS, etc. 1394 Hardware - Link technology, Phy technology, Host Adapters, Bridges, etc. 1394 Devices - Camcorders, Cameras, Mass Storage Devices (CD-ROM, Disk, DVD, etc), Printers, Networking, Audio Mixers, Set Top boxes, VCRs, etc. 1394 Standards - SBP-2, AV/C, IEEE 1212, 1394.A, 1394.B, DVC, Device Bay, etc. 1394 Programming - Windows API, MacOS API, Custom APIs, Device Drivers, Applications, etc. 1394 Information Links - Websites, newsgroups, email, etc. While this may sound like a LOT of material to cover, we think that a one-stop message center for 1394 is sorely needed. 1394 is, we think, the ascendant bus technology for the next decade. It will bridge the gap between consumer electronic devices and computers, which is known in the press community as "convergence". We will do our best to keep the list informative and on-topic and hope that it will serve as a central information point for 1394. Subscription Policy: open Available Delivery Modes: Immediate or Digest Digest Schedule: daily
